Get ready for a sneaker revolution. adidas and Parley for the Oceans are working towards bringing sneakerheads into the front of ecological awareness. The two have had a fruitful partnership in the past year, producing more than a few pairs of shoes made from recycled ocean plastic, but in very limited quantities. While the two have yet to venture into complete mass production, adidas and Parley for the Oceans have that goal in mind and are working towards it.
Their latest production, the UltraBOOST Uncaged, will be released in 7,000 pairs available for consumers. The eco-friendly shoe has an upper composed of 95% Parley Ocean Plastic and 5% recycled polyester, as well as other parts such as laces made with recycled materials.
This isn’t just a niche project for adidas; they hope one day to have most of their products produced with the earth in mind.
